Decorating Mommy's window...

Rylie had picked out some Halloween window clings the other day. Her & Brooklyn had so much fun decorating the glass sliding door. Brooklyn just wants to do everything her big sister does!

Week 3 of "school"

Week 3...
Letter: Cc
Number: 3
Theme: shapes
A letter 'C' project

making shape. letter & number cookies

We did a "re-cap" of letters A-C and numbers 1-3 this week

Rylie cut our all of these shapes (with a little help from Mommy)

some of the worksheets she did this week

Rylie helped me make a mobile with all of the shapes she cut out, then we hung it in the playroom/classroom

She gets tired of doing worksheets so I've been trying to be creative on how to get her to practice writing her letters & numbers. If you look closely you can see ABC and 321 in sidewalk chalk
painting with a number 3 cookie cutter
I have to remember she's not even 4 years old yet (she's still only 3!). I'm trying to keep her work & projects age appropriate, I want to make it fun so I don't discourage her. She's doing really well, I don't think she'll have any problem next year in transitional kindergarten!

Brooklyn: 10 months old

Can you believe this little beauty is 10 months old?!?
She loves to wave bye-bye, clap, and dance. She is a very happy baby. She has 8 teeth, wears 18-24 months in clothes, eats anything & everything you give her, and she's starting to stand without holding on to something. I'm not sure how much she weighs right now but I'm pretty sure her & Rylie are about the same weight LOL. She gets SOOO excited when her Daddy comes home at night, her & Rylie fight over him hahahaha. Brooklyn definitely completes our home, she is such a fun & loving little girl. Here are a few pictures I took at the park last week...

Mermaid Melissa

When we were at the L.A. County Fair they had a mermaid exhibit/show. I told Kyle we had to go see it since Rylie is so into mermaids right now.  I'm really glad we did, it was pretty cool!Mermaid Melissa is as real as real can be (when it comes to mermaids that is). Rylie was pretty mesmerized by the whole thing hahahaha. You can go to mermaidmelissa.com to see more, it's pretty interesting!

2nd week of "school"

Last week was our 2nd week of "homeschool preschool". Our theme was "the farm", we learned letter Bb & number 2. We had lots of fun doing the crafts this week (just so everyone understands, I do help Rylie a little bit, but she does most of the work herself. Although, it is fun working on the crafts together!). We also work on shapes, colors and scissor skills in her workbook everyday. Our Friday "cooking" lesson was eggs. She helped make eggs for breakfast, and had a glass of milk. We talked about how eggs & milk come from the animals on the farm.
On Thursday we took a "field trip" to the farm at the L.A. County fair. We saw lots of animals and even got to feed some. I wish I would've taken some pictures of her letter & number worksheets so you could see how well she's doing... But here's a little sneak peak of our week!
Rylie's barn was made from cardboard, a paper towel roll and a egg carton cup. She painted everything herself and then Mommy helped her glue it together. She loved doing the muddy pig craft and making a pen for him, it turned out really cute!

Rylie really liked doing her sheep (Mommy did the face). She glued cotton balls on the body and cut strips of black paper for the legs. We did a fine motor skill craft too, she glued fruit loops onto the letter B.

Salt tray! Rylie loves practicing her letters & numbers by tracing them in salt. She could do this for hours!

She made a cow using her footprint. Super cute!
"My Little Ham" writing her big B's
Horse craft... I cut out the head. Rylie painted a paper plate, cut out legs and helped cut the fringe for the main & tail. She also drew the mouth and nose. Mommy stapled it all together.

*Rylie is also enjoying her "computer school" (that's what she calls her ABCmouse.com program hahahaha). I sit and do the actual lessons with her, but she will sit on the computer by herself playing games, taking care of her hamster & fish tank, listening to stories and doing coloring activities. I'm really glad we signed her up for it!

"My little fish"

Rylie absolutely LOVES the pool! We've been going almost everyday since she learned to swim. She can jump in by herself now, and her new favorite thing is having Daddy throw her in the air! She is slowly learning how to come up for a breathe on her own (we're still working on that), she has NO fear!
Brooklyn is doing good too. She is learning to kick her feet, and she doesn't mind going under water. I think we'll be teaching her to swim next summer, she already wants to do everything Rylie does.

1st week of "school"

Rylie completed her 1st week of "school", she did really good. I've decided our themes are going to be weekly (not monthly), there's only so much you can do & learn about apples hahaha. Our "school" is from 9:00-11:00am and consists of worksheets of the weekly letter & number, an art project, reading a book, singing songs, learning the months of the year & days of the week, shapes, colors, and a cooking/baking lesson on Fridays. We will also be taking "field trips" and going to the library every month. After our "school" work is done we have outside time, which includes playing in the backyard, going to the pool, or going to the park.
We had a few sets backs this week but overall I am very pleased with how things went. Rylie did very well and is already learning so much!

she did 3 worksheets every morning..."big" A, "little" a, and the number 1

On Fridays we do some sort of baking or cooking lesson. She was making donut holes here...

the finished product! they were pretty good.

we also made apple juice popsicles. I found this mold in the dollar bin at Target and we filled it with apple juice. Yum-Yum!

name recognition, this was pretty easy for her.
