Rylie has really been showing interest in the potty lately. I bought her pull ups last week, she's really good at pulling them up & down. She doesn't like her little potty, she uses it as a stool to climb up on the big potty.

Well...this morning she peed in the potty! and this afternoon she did a little poop :) We were SO excited! I'm starting her a chart with stickers (she loves stickers) and a jar of M&M's as a reward (whatever works right?!?!). I can't believe it's already time to start potty training my baby.

Rylie's favorite movie is Dumbo. Seriously the kid is obsessed! We watch it like 2 or 3 times a day.

It has a elephant AND a "choo-choo", what's better than that!?!?

When she wants to watch it she says "choo-choo" then puts her arm up to her nose (like an elephant trunk) and makes a elephant sound hahahaha SO cute!

The Light Of My Life

Just had to share these pictures of my girl, she cracks me up! I am so blessed to able to call this little girl my daughter. I am very lucky I get to spend my days watching her grow up, we have so much together. She is truly the light of my life, I don't know what I ever did without her. I love our mornings together, playing in the backyard, watching movies at nap time, and rocking her to sleep at night. She's growing up so fast, I'm treasuring every minute.

Kyle's cousins came down from Northern California last week to visit, so Rylie & I met them over at Disneyland one day. It was really hot and the park was really crowded, but we made the best of it and ended up having a great time!

New Years Weekend

We went camping out in the desert at Ocotillo Wells over New Years with a bunch of friends & family. We had SO much fun! The weather was amazing, and the kids had a blast playing in the dirt all weekend. I even got to ride my quad a few times, I forgot how much I enjoy it. One night we took the side-by-side down to the ranger station for a star gazing exhibit, it was really cool, we got to see Jupiter & the Moon up close.

Kyle had 2 weeks off from work, we've had so much fun having him home with us. Last night was his first night back, we're bummed that his vacation is over. Rylie is SUCH a Daddy's girl, she wanted him to do everything! It was a nice break for me :) Especially last Friday when I got sick with the flu! Thank goodness Kyle was home, without him & Auntie Maggie I don't know what I would've done. I was sick for 3 days, not fun. Yesterday was the first day I felt better, and boy did it feel good! Other than that we've had so much fun around here over the last month or so, I still have so much to blog about & pictures to share. Stay tuned...

We had a such a wonderful Christmas morning, just the three of us! It was so much fun having a two year old at Christmas time, Rylie absolutely loved everything, the lights, the presents, Santa, the decorations, ect... Our Christmas started off with our power going out for 2 1/2 hours, we were up from 1am-3:30am. Daddy & Rylie played with flashlights on the ceiling. I was so excited for Rylie to wake up Christmas morning but because of the power outage (and being up so late) she slept in! When she finally woke up we had an amazing morning playing with all the toys Santa brought and eating a yummy breakfast. These are moments I will never forget (I got soooo many great pictures & video).

Grandma's birthday

We celebrated Rylie's Grandma's birthday last weekend by going to Knott's Berry Farm. We had lunch at the Chicken restaurant (yum-yum), watched the Christmas parade, went on a couple of rides, and watched Snoopy On Ice (which was really good, Rylie loved it!). We had a super day, hope Grandma had as much fun as we did!

Rylie LOVES Christmas lights, she oo's & ah's every time we pass a house with lights. The other night we took her to this neighborhood that goes all out with Christmas decorations. She loved it! Disneyland 2011

My niece Ashley and her boyfriend Daniel came down from Oregon to visit. We went to Disneyland on Tuesday and had a great day! Ashley & Daniel were celebrating their 5 year anniversary, it was also Daniel's 1st time to Disneyland. I ended up getting an annual pass, so Rylie and I will have many more wonderful days at the "Happiest Place On Earth!" Rylie's favorite ride was Casey Jr's train ride (she loves "choo choos"). Mommy's favorite ride was the new Little Mermaid ride at California Adventure! I love going to Disneyland around Christmas time, it's so magical. I'm so lucky to get to spend these special moments with my girl :)

Two years ago our lives changed forever, we met the most beautiful little miracle - our daughter... Rylie Makena Sanford came into the world at 12:15pm on November 11, 2009, she weighed a whopping 4 lbs. 3 oz. and was 17 in. long. She now weighs 22 lbs. and is 32.5 inches tall.

Rylie's birthday isn't until the 11th but Kyle and I bought her an early birthday present. We got her a big girl bed and Minnie Mouse bedding (she loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse), we are also painting and putting up new curtains (pictures coming soon!). We bought the bed over a week ago and so far so good. She has been sleeping (and napping) in it every night, she wakes up around 4am and I have to go in and rub her back but she doesn't try to get out of her bed. It was kinda sad taking her crib out of her room, my baby is growing up.

We went over to Kyle's sister's house to carve pumpkins, eat dinner, and go trick-or-treating. We had a great night and Rylie was amazing! She really got the hang of trick-or-treating, and her "big" cousins were so good with her. She would wave, say bye-bye and blow kisses at each house. She walked a lot (we didn't even bring a stroller), I was so proud of her. She really liked handing out candy too. I love that we have this Halloween tradition of going over to "Auntie Kim's" house every year, we always have a wonderful time!

Ahhhhh 15 pounds lighter

Since August 17th I've lost 15 lbs. and boy does it feel good! My goal was to lose 20 pounds by Halloween, doesn't look like that's going to happen since Halloween is in a few days, but that's okay. I'm pretty proud of the 15 I've lost so far, 5 more pounds shouldn't be that hard. I plateaued for about 3 weeks but then I started losing again. I walk 2-4+ miles a day, I've significantly cut back on my food intake and I don't drink soda (pretty much all I drink is water). I've dropped a whole pant size and my clothes fit so much better! The best part of all of this is it hasn't been that hard, it's something I'll be able to keep up. Rylie and I love our morning walks, so that makes it easy to get a little exercise in everyday. I've also been trying to run when I get the chance.
Hopefully I can reach my goal of losing 20 lbs. in the next couple of weeks, only 5 more to go! Wish me luck...

Pumpkin Patch!

Rylie and I went up to the Islands (WA) and spent 3 weeks at my parents house, we just got home last Friday. We had a great time. My Mom & Dad took us to this cool little pumpkin patch. It was "self serve", pick your pumpkins and leave the money in a box (that would NEVER happen around here hahaha). I have never seen so many different colors, sizes, and types of pumpkins. Rylie had so much fun!

I thought it was a cool display, and I love how the picture turned out.

GG's 80th Birthday

We went to Henderson Nevada over the weekend to celebrate Kyle's Grandma's 80th birthday. She has 17 GREAT Grandchildren, they call her "GG" (short for Great Grandma). We threw her a party at The American Legion Hall, everyone had a great time. Rylie had fun swimming in the pool at the hotel and playing with her cousins.
Kyle's Grandma, Marlene, is such a special lady. It was so nice to spend the evening celebrating her and what she means to everyone.

21 months

Well...our little girl is 21 months old today. Only 3 more months until her second birthday. I can't believe it! Where does the time go?
Rylie loves going to the park, playing in the backyard, coloring, playing with play-doh, dressing & undressing herself, taking care of her baby dolls, playing in Daddy's truck, talking on the phone, playing with cameras & computers, teasing the animals, eating go-gurts, playing in cupboards, taking baths, playing dress up, and hanging out with Mommy & Daddy.
She's still wearing 12 to 18 months in clothes, a size 5 in shoes and a 3 in diapers. She knows her eyes, nose, hair, mouth, ears, belly button, feet, hands, butt, tongue, and toes. When you ask her where her boobies are she points to her birth mark on her side hahahaha too funny! She says "thank you", "what's that", and "here you go" now. She understands everything you ask her or tell her. She loves to brush her teeth and pretends to put make up on (she watches me like a hawk when I get ready in the morning).
She's starting to do the motions to "Itsy Bitsy Spider" when we sing it (so cute!). Her favorite cartoons are Yo Gabba Gabba, Olivia, Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Fresh Beat Band, and Wow Wow Wubbzy. She loves to dance to music and sing songs. She's growing up so fast and amazes us everyday, she has really developed her own personality and independence. We can't wait to see what she does next!

We have started coloring and playing with play-doh on a daily basis, she does really well. We are still enjoying the warm summer days playing outside in the pool & sandbox. I am very lucky that I get to spend my days playing with my girl!

I took my old camera (Nikon D40) in to be repaired on June 27th (it was 4 years old and I use it everyday. The flash was broken, it needed to be cleaned, and my telephoto lens wasn't working) it was supposed to be done by July 9th. Well the 9th came and went and no word on my camera, so I called and they me put on hold for 40 minutes. I ended up going to the store and speaking with someone, they said if my camera wasn't finished within 45 days they would give me a credit towards a new one! Well apparently they couldn't fix my camera within the 45 days so they were going to give me a new camera!. I got a brand new Nikon D3100 and telephoto lens. It's a really nice camera, it even takes video! I'm so excited!

Last weekend my parents drove down from Washington to surprise me for my birthday! They stayed with us all week and left early this morning. It was so great getting to spend my birthday with them. Rylie had so much fun with her Grandma & Grandpa. It's always SO hard saying good-bye, hopefully we'll see them again soon.

We spent 4th of July over at Kyle's parents house in Norwalk. Kyle had to work that night, but Rylie & I stayed and watched fireworks with Papa, Grandma, Auntie Kim, Uncle JT, Jenna & Jake. Rylie had fun running around, playing in her pool, and doing sparklers. She's turning into such a big girl!

So after our 2 week adventure up north we had to get back for Sarah's wedding (Kyle's cousin). Sarah & Johnny were married at Serendipity in Oak Glen, CA. It was a beautiful wedding, Sarah looked amazing (so did Johnny hahaha). Everyone had a great time. My Aunt Maggie came and picked up Rylie half way through the reception so that Kyle & I could stay. This was the first night I have spent away from my baby, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. But boy was I happy when they brought her home!

Kyle, Rylie & I went on a 2 week adventure.
We left Thursday June 9th for Oregon...
*June 10th-12th in Cottage Grove Oregon at Dorena Lake for my nephew Jacob's high school graduation
*June 12th-13th in Grants Pass Oregon at my Auntie Heather's house
*June 14th-20th at my parents house on the San Juan Islands in Washington
*June 20th back to Grants Pass, OR to spend the night
*June 21st-22nd in Marysville, CA at Kyle's cousin's house
We had a really nice time. It was great seeing my family. While we were in Oregon we went to my nephew Jacob's graduation, got to meet the newest member of our family (little Avery), camped at Dorena Lake, picked strawberries from Auntie Heather's garden, went to Wildlife Images to see animals, Kyle did a little fishing, and just enjoyed the fresh air! When we went to my parents house on the San Juan Islands in Washington we got to see Orcas, bald eagles, deer & fox. We relaxed on my parents deck infront of a fire every night. Kyle also planted little trees on my parents property for Rylie, Ashley & Brook, then we all painted rocks with our names on them to put under our trees. We also got see my Uncle Bill & Janet for a little while, and see his house one last time before he sells it . Another thing we discovered while on the island is geocaching (it's a world wide scavenger hunt), if you don't know what I'm talking about check out the website http://www.geocaching.com/ it's a total waste of time but kinda fun & exciting hahahahaha.
On the way home we stopped at Kyle's cousins house in Marysville, it was really great to see little Hailey, she's growing up so fast! Rylie was so lucky to get to play with all of her cousins on this trip.
And I must mention that Rylie was AWESOME the entire 2 weeks we were gone, she is such a good little traveler. I am so proud of her!

Up until about 6 weeks ago Rylie was still taking a bath in the kitchen sink (my little peanut!), but now has graduated to the big bath tub. She loves taking baths in the tub, I'll even find her playing in there with all of her clothes on (no water of course). She cracks me up! When I ask her if she wants to take a bath she nods yes and says "ah huh", then she climbs upstairs, starts taking her clothes off and climbs into the tub. She's such a big girl!

I have to give a shout out to my Mom & Dad, they celebrated their 45th wedding Anniversary yesterday. WOW 45 years, that is quite a milestone. I want to thank them for being such amazing parents, they have set such a great example. I can only hope & pray for such a long & happy marriage. They have been through so much together and they are still best friends!

Rylie & I drove out to watch Kyle race his dirt bike at the Fire/Police MX races today. It was nice to get out of the house and spend some time in the fresh air after being stuck inside the last couple of days because of the rain. Kyle's friend brought his little boy Landon, Rylie & Landon did so good playing together. Kyle got 2nd place in the first race & 1st place in the 2nd race. He got 1st place overall in his class - "Go Daddy!". He has 2 more races tomorrow, hopefully he has another good day!

I totally forgot to post these pictures. The day after Mother's Day Kyle, Rylie & I went to the park and then went to get frozen yogurt - that's what I call a perfect day! Rylie and I try to go to the park at least once a week, this time Daddy got to go. It's a really nice park, they have a small playground for kids 2-5, a big playground for kids 5-12 and a water feature. It was a little cool that day so no one was playing in the water...except MY KID (fully clothed I might add hahahahaha). Rylie gets so excited when we pull into the parking lot and she can see the playground, she goes down ALL the slides by herself (even the big ones) with extreme supervision from nervous Mommy :)

You can now make your blog into a book! It's really cool, if you go to thecutestblogontheblock.com you can preview your blog book. If I printed my blog since I started it in March 2008 it would cost me $140 bucks hahahahaha. Although, I am thinking about printing it from when I found out I was pregnant until Rylie turns 2, a little "journal" for when she gets older. The only bad thing is it obviously can't print slide shows so you wouldn't have all of those pictures in your book :(

I took Rylie to her 18 month check up today, she weighs 20 pounds 14 ounces and is 31 inches long. The Dr. is happy with her development, she doesn't need another check up until she is TWO!
On a totally different note...once we got home from her dr. appointment it was time for her nap, I was watching her in the baby monitor and she totally climbed out of her crib!!! I walked into her room and she was sitting on the floor playing with her toys, I said "what are you doing?" and she looked at me, handed me a toy and said "that" hahaha gotta love that kid! So now I'm contemplating on converting her crib into a toddler bed - really? she's only 18 months old, I'm not ready for her to be in a bed yet! First no bottle and now this, I'm not doing too good with her growing up - I want my baby back!

My niece Ashley turns twenty-one today. I can't believe it. It seems like just yesterday my Dad was picking me up from school to go to the hospital to see my new baby niece. I was so happy when he told me "it's a girl", the little sister I always wanted! Growing up Ashley & her brother Jacob lived with us so it really was like having a little brother & sister. Ashley & I have always stayed very close, she now lives in Oregon but we text everyday! I just wanted to wish her a VERY happy 21st birthday...

My little girl amazes me every day! She now knows her eyes (when you ask her where her eyes are she blinks them hahaha), nose, mouth, hair, bellybutton & feet. We're working on ears & hands. She says Dada, Mama (when she tired or hurt), go, going, dog, on, uh-oh & she meows... I'm sure I'm forgetting some. She sleeps through the night 10-13 hours in her crib, she takes a 2 hour nap every day from 11-1pm. We're finally on a schedule! No bottle but she still has a binkie at nap time & bed time. She still eats really good. She wears 12 months (some 18) in clothes, size 4 shoe (almost in a 5), & still in size 3 diapers. She loves bubbles & playing outside. We're working on coloring but she's just not interested in it. Oh and my favorite thing is the kisses, she gives lots & lots of kisses! She also waves bye-bye and likes to smell flowers.

Just an update on our little girl, she's growing up so fast!

Sick Mommy

I woke up last Friday with a sore throat and runny nose. I thought I was getting better by Sunday, the sore throat & runny nose went away. Then I got this horrible cough and started spitting up thick, green flem (I know TMI! hahahaha). I would get the chills, then I would start sweating, I felt really bad! I struggled all week trying to rest and feel better. It is so hard being sick and having a baby to take care of (especially when your husband works nights). Well... things got worse. I woke up Thursday morning with an ear infection. So off to the doctor we went (Kyle had to drive me because I felt so bad). The doctor gave me a cough medicine with codeine and a antibiotic (for my MIDDLE EAR INFECTION!).I get very nauseous & dizzy from the medicine - wonderful,just what I needed!
To make matters worse I think Rylie is getting sick now. She wakes up with gunk in her eye, her voice is a little raspy and she has a runny nose. I'm going to see how she does over the weekend, looks like we might be making another trip to the doctor!

Over the weekend Kyle, Rylie & I went camping out at Cal City for a memorial ride in honor of Cody Waters, a little boy who died of brain cancer in March 2009, a month before his10th birthday. Everyone rode their dirt bikes, quads, and side by sides to the Jawbone Store where we had lunch & a raffle to raise funds for pediatric brain cancer. Rylie & I rode in a truck with Kyle's friend Patty so we could be a part of the wonderful day. I actually won a gift card to Target & Red Robin from the raffle (two of my favorite places!). I think we will make this an annual trip, I would really like to get more people involved next year, it was a very humbling experience. I see a trip to the emergency room in my near future. I think my precious little girl is half MONKEY! She has started climbing on everything...the dining room table & chairs, the couches, her toys outside, her activity table, ect... She is definitely a handful! I can't take my eyes off her. Rylie hasn't had a bottle in almost 2 weeks, she's officially off the "ba ba". I threw them all away the other day. She's done very well. She's been a little fussy because she has 4 molars coming in at the same time. I feel bad that I can't give her a bottle to soothe her, but her binkie is giving her some comfort (along with orajel!). It is nice not having to wash bottles everyday:)
